Advanced Physical Therapy Joins ATI Physical Therapy

Advanced Physical Therapy has joined the ATI Physical Therapy family. ATI, a nationally-recognized provider of outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation, acquired Advanced Physical Therapy’s 15 clinics in Indiana effective July 1, 2011.

Advanced patients will continue to encounter the same friendly and knowledgeable people they have come to know and trust. 175 Advanced employees have joined the ATI team.  Founder JoAnne Jonathan will be working with the executive team directly on strategic planning and growth opportunities.  The clinics will retain the Advanced Physical Therapy name for the time being.

“We’ve enjoyed a congenial relationship with ATI for a number of years and I have been extremely impressed by the company’s leadership and reputation in the industry. This opportunity provides us the resources to share our best practices and grow our services locally and throughout the state,” said Jonathan, Senior Vice President, ATI Physical Therapy.

With over 130 locations in six states, ATI Physical Therapy is a leading provider of rehabilitative, research-based services in physical therapy, work conditioning/hardening, functional capacity evaluations, and sports medicine. ATI has been named “Best Physical Therapy Practice in the Nation” by Advance Rehab Magazine and was recently awarded Core Standards Accreditation from URAC, a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry.

“As we expand in Indiana, we are thrilled to welcome the foremost physical therapy provider in Indianapolis to the ATI family. Our colleagues at Advanced share our commitment to providing the highest quality care delivered with a personalized approach,” Greg Steil, CEO, ATI Physical Therapy

ATI is excited to bring its in-house research program, robust sports medicine program, and transportation services for those with medical need to the Indianapolis market. ATI’s business philosophy of exceptional care extends to the local communities where ATI patients and staff work and live. The ATI Foundation, a non-profit organization, provides funding and resources to children in need due to medical complications and physical impairments.

ATI will adopt and expand the Advanced Worksite Solutions (AWS) program. This program, which is well established in Indianapolis, offers a wide selection of injury management systems and solutions for businesses of any scale.  Sheila Denman, Senior Vice President of AWS, will spearhead this new application across all divisions.

For the past 19 years, Denman has served as the Director of Operations for Advanced Physical Therapy and has been at the helm of the growing AWS division.  Denman received a Masters degree in Exercise Physiology from Ball State and a Masters degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Indianapolis.  Denman is frequent speaker on the regional and national level, and is a sought after expert in the field of injury prevention and early intervention programs.

Kim Kollwelter, DPT, has been promoted to Vice President of Operations to lead the Indianapolis clinics, along with additional responsibilities. Kollwelter, who holds a Doctorate of Physical Therapy, is an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist, a Certified Integrated Manual Therapist, as well as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist.  She is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and received her post professional doctorate from the University of St. Augustine.   Kim began her career with ATI in 2004, serving as Clinic Director in Joliet, and most recently as Regional Director, overseeing the Illinois Southwest Region and Wisconsin.  In addition to her work with ATI, Kim has instructed manual therapy courses for Great Lake Seminars since 2002.
